REVIEW: LINKSYS Business AC1200 Dual-Band Cloud Wireless Access Point
A few months ago I setup a new LINKSYS Business AC1200 Dual-Band Cloud Wireless Access Point along with a LINKSYS 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch in an outdoor building that my wife utilizes for her vinyl business.
She desperately needed connectivity to utilize the cloud-based design software that she accesses from her laptop. Unfortunately, the home wifi provided by our ISP just wasn’t strong enough to connect from a distance.
I began by running approximately 250 feet of underground all-weather cat 6 ethernet cable from the house to the building. From there, the installation was extremely easy.
The AC1200 AP provided everything needed to get started, including a template for installation and an easy to follow guide.
I chose a location to install the Wifi access point that I felt would provide the best coverage. After installing the bracket with just three screws (provided), the AC1200 locked right in with ease.
I then connected the 5-Port POE Gigabit Switch to the AC1200 Access point and began the setup process on the Cloud Manager access provided by Linksys.
The account setup was very simple and I found the browser-based cloud-based software easy to navigate through my mobile phone. I named the WIFI AP and added password protection to prevent others from jumping on the network.
There were options to provide a separate “guest” network with the ability to designate a fair amount of bandwidth for use. Since this was only needed for her workshop and she required as much bandwidth as possible, I went with just a single network connection.
The cloud manager software was quite intuitive and although I have experience with both computer networks and setting up WiFi access points, I firmly believe this could be done even by the most novice user.
It’s important to note that multiple access points can be connected and monitored through the cloud manager – which in the future will make it easier to expand if the need arises. You are also able to set roles for access and monitoring.
Once we named the network and had the AC1200 AP completely setup, the connection light turned from green to blue letting us know that it was ready to be used.
We began by testing the connection strength and the distance we could access the AC1200 AP. I think we were both pleasantly surprised to find that we could connect much well beyond the distance she would ever need.
The Linksys AC1200 AP has given my small business the ability to stay connected and productive whether I am designing new vinyl creations or processing mobile payments through my PayPal Mobile Card Reader.
Mobility and a strong connection is vitally important for me. Some days I sell my wooden signs and gifts by the roadside, other days I am designing more creations from my workshop – regardless where or what I am doing, the Linksys WiFi keeps me connected.
I’ve found it fast and reliable so connectivity is no longer an issue for me anymore. I highly recommend this WiFi solution for any small business requiring a robust connection.

We have a 400Mb Download and 20Mb Upload cable internet connection that is used across both our home and my wife’s business. The bandwidth passed through with ease and we have been happy with the unit since installing it a few months ago.
To date, we have had no issues and absolutely no downtime. It’s worked flawlessly on every type of device possible. – even during our frigid New Hampshire winter temperatures.
Overall, I think the Linksys AC1200 AP with Cloud Manager is a great WiFi solution. Out of the box it is easy to setup and monitor connectivity and traffic from any mobile device – anywhere in the world.
This is the perfect product, packed with all the features one would need to connect and manage their home or business wifi.
